| Graphic novel/comic book recommendations? I am a complete newbie in the world of graphic novels/comics and am looking for some recommendations. What I have read and loved so far includes pretty much everything by Jhonen Vasques and Alan Moore, and I also liked James O'Barr’s The Crow and Roman Dirge’s Lenore. I enjoy things that have an aspect of dark humour, psycho-noir, existential nihilism and psychological horror. I hate anything that is primarily or more often than not nothing but muscular/macho heroes and busty scantily clad heroines fighting bad guys… seriously if you recommend anything with a brainless action/sexual oriented plot you will do nothing but make me gag. |

| Would anyone care if Jubilee of the X-men died? I love the character, and I'm really sad that she has been depowered recently. Granted, her power wasn't all that great to begin with, but she was still a great character and had a ton of potential. I have a creeping suspision that Marvel will kill her off soon, which to put it bluntly, totally sucks. Sure, kill off Jubilee to make room for more busty, barely dressed, typical comic book heroines. Is anyone else going to care if she dies besides me? P.S. He said specifically of the character, "I can tell you here that she will remain powerless for the foreseeable future."[1] So you are being paranoid. They are NOT going to kill her off. |
| Ladies, what do you think about the way WOMEN are potrayed in "comic" books ? Is it fair ? Or is it sexist ? You have Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Bionic Woman, and Bat Girl. Do you think that the men behind this concept have done a good service in exposing the contributions and aspirations of women in our society. I would say yes. I think this is a fair potrayal of women in the world today. But if you notice one thing, most of these comic book heroines have a busty outline, and a nice body. They hardly ever show a super Woman being big or a plus size. There are some underlying issues as far as that is concerned. But what do you think about women in comic books................... |

Okay- so I am doing a comic (a realistic one) and need some dress or pants or shirt sizes for the two, and I'll give you a good idea of their height, build and shape. First, there's Gunter. He's 19 years old, about 5'9-5'10. He has a lean build, with a lot of lean muscle. He's in very good shape, built almost like a runner. German and Jewish background (reason I put this is because sometimes there are size trends within ethnicity). Secondly, there's Jenny. She's 19, about 5'4-5'5. Has a slightly smaller frame than normal, but has a normal amount of muscle (for a girl her age). She's rather busty and curvy for her frame, and hips are slightly wider, but she's not fat. She's built kind of like a model who is on the curvier side. Italian and Swedish background. |
